According to a study published in the "Journal of Medicinal Chemistry", the antispasmodic properties of Cramp Bark are due to the presence of the coumarin derivative, scopoletin. The avocado, Persia American, is a member of the genus Lauraceae, a pan tropical family. The tree can grow up to the height of 66 ft with regularly arranged leaves which are 4.7–9.8 inch long.
